Chinese Beef Steak Recipe

Chinese Beef Steak Recipe

Ingredients:

500 g sirloin steak

Vegetable oil for deep-frying

Lettuce, optional

Marinade:

2 slices ginger, finely chopped

1 tablespoon dry sherry

1 tablespoon light soy sauce

A few drops of sesame oil

White pepper

Sauce:

1 tablespoon tomato ketchup

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon sugar

1 teaspoon light soy sauce

1 tablespoon cornflour

1 teaspoon salt

½ cup water

Method:

Combine marinade ingredients.  Slice beef into 1-cm thick pieces and marinate for at least half an hour.  Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a wok until smoking hot.  Stir-fry marinated beef for about 30 seconds.  Do not worry if they are not completely cooked.  Remove and set aside.  In the same wok, heat blended sauce ingredients, stirring until sauce thickens.  Return beef slices to the wok.  Toss well to coat beef with the sauce and serve immediately on bed of fresh lettuce, if liked.
