Method:
Combine sugar, water, soy sauce, and
vinegar in a bowl and stir well. Transfer to a casserole and add
the pork chunks, garlic and bay leaf. Bring to the boil, then
lower heat to simmer. Simmer over low heat until pork is tender,
about 35 minutes. Discard bay leaf and serve meat with rice.
Spoon over the sauce.
